For Therapists & Referrers

A complementary, body-based approach for your clients

If you work with clients who are experiencing stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, nervous-system dysregulation or difficulty reconnecting with their bodies, somatic breathwork may provide a useful complement to your existing therapeutic work.

Somatic breathwork and guided meditation can support your clients in these and many other areas:

  • stress and burnout
  • emotional overwhelm
  • grief and heartbreak
  • self-criticism
  • anxiety
  • feeling stuck or disconnected
  • suppressed anger
  • chronic tension

At An Dagda Therapy, sessions are tailored to the client’s presenting state, capacity and readiness, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on the client, the work may focus on grounding and stabilisation, self-compassion, emotional processing, healthy boundaries, freeze and shutdown, grief, body awareness, chronic pain, or restoring a sense of bodily autonomy following illness or medical treatment.

The intention is not to replace psychotherapy or medical care, but to provide a complementary body-based space that can support clients in regulating, reconnecting and developing greater awareness of their physical and emotional experience.

Referral Guide

I’ve created a concise 2-page referral guide to help therapists identify clients who may be suited to somatic breathwork and the type of support that may be most appropriate for their current presentation.

The guide covers:
  • Presenting features
  • When to consider somatic breathwork
  • Intended focus
  • Suggested meditation approach
  • When another approach may be more appropriate

Please note: This guide is intended to support professional referral decisions and does not constitute a diagnostic or treatment tool. Referrals should be based on the client’s current presentation, capacity, suitability and the referring therapist’s clinical judgement.

If you are unsure whether somatic breathwork would be appropriate for a particular client, please feel free to get in touch to discuss a referral.
