Breathwork

Your breath is always with you.

We breathe all day without really thinking about it. But the way we breathe can change depending on what's happening within us. When we're stressed, anxious, overwhelmed or emotional, our breathing can change. And sometimes, consciously working with the breath can give us a different way into what's going on.

What is breathwork?

Breathwork is the practice of consciously changing the way we breathe for a period of time. There are lots of different approaches to breathwork, and I don't believe there is one way that works for everyone. For me, it's about using the breath as a tool to slow things down, become more aware of the body and create some space from the constant noise in our heads. It can also help us notice things that we might normally overlook.

How I work with breathwork

My approach is gentle, intuitive and guided by what feels appropriate for you. We might use the breath alongside grounding, body awareness and conversation, or we may spend more time working directly with the breath. Sometimes the experience is subtle. Sometimes it can bring up emotions, sensations, thoughts or memories that we weren't consciously aware of. There's no need to force anything. We simply notice what is happening and work with it at a pace that feels safe.

Is breathwork for me?

You don't need to have any previous experience with breathwork. You might come because you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, feel disconnected from yourself, or simply be curious about what working with your breath might bring up. You don't need to know exactly what you're looking for. We start where you are.
